The Great Protector, Archangel Michael

I'm so excited to write about Archangel Michael. He is one of my favorite Archangels,
and whom I feel very close to.

Fear strikes us all at one time or another. We fear harm coming to those we love,
losing our security, our jobs. The military families fear for their soldiers.

The latter was true for me, when my husband got orders for Iraq in 2004.  I always
prayed for our soldiers. Now, it was my husband whom I was paying for.

I knew I had to have faith in archangel Michael. Archangel Michael is the protecting
angel, whose name means, "One who is like God."  Archangel means, "Chief of the Angels."
He is said to be the first angel created by God. Some religions believe he is the pre-incarnate
of Christ. Michael ranks the highest of all the angels.

Michael is the leader of God's Army. He is the great prince angel who fought the great
battle in heaven, and threw the dragon, Satan, and his dark angels out of it.

He is the angel to call for protection.  He has emerald green, or green topaz wings with
saffron hair. Each strand has a million faces that speak a million languages.  He is often
depicted fully armed with a helmet and carrying a sword and shield.  The shield symbolizes
his strength, courage, truth and integrity.  In some depictions he presses his foot against
the dragon, and sometimes pierces him with a lance.

Archangel Michael, also known as St. Michael, and St. George are the patron saints of
chivalry and are considered the patron saints for: police officers,  military, and mariners.
For this reason, before my husband deployed to Iraq, I called on Michael and his Angels
to protect his  unit. I asked him to encase them and their tanks, in a protective bubble.

That night I dreamed we were standing in a field, looking at the sky.  I couldn't see
the blue of the sky because there were millions of cherubs with trumpets flying at light
speed.  They seemed to be rushing for a vital mission.  When I woke, I knew my husband
and his soldiers would be safe.  I felt so privileged to have seen God's angels busy at work.

Legend tells us, Cherubim were created from the tears Michael shed over the sins of the faithful.

You don't need to be perfect to ask for Michaels help. All you need is to have faith in
him. Michael will be by your side before you're even done calling his name. Don't feel
you take him away from people who need him. Because all angels are energy, Michael
can be in millions of  places at one time.

Ask Michael to cocoon you and your loved ones when you need protection. He and his
band of angels will create a protective bubble, infused with the holy light. He will protect
you, like he did Daniel from the lion's den.

Since Michael is the angel of courage, you can ask him to give you courage and strength,
or  ask for the ones you love. Michael was one of the angels who appeared to Joan of Arc.
He directed her to go to the aid of France and he became her war advisor.

Ask him to remove negative people from your life.  If you feel a place has negative energy,
ask Michael to sever the negativity with his sword. I did that one time and the room got
brighter, like a cloud removing itself from the sun's path.

Michael is also the Angel of death. He carries the souls of the deceased to heaven.  At
the time of death  Michael descends and gives each soul a chance to redeem itself before
crossing. It was Michael who informed Mary of her upcoming death. You can ask him to
help those who are about to cross over.

St. Michael                St. Raphael
Michael is heaven's physician and his duty  is to take care of the sick.  Michael was the
angel who caused a healing spring to spout near Colossae.  All the sick who invoked the
Holy Trinity and bathed in the water were cured.  For a powerful prayer for the sick ask
the two angels of healing, Michael and Raphael for help.

You can pray, meditate or write Archangel Michael your requests.  When you write Michael
your request, fold and place your letter in a non-flammable bowl and light it on fire.  It is
believed that the prayer rises as smoke to heaven, and reaches him.  When you finish with
your prayer, always thank him.  Remember, you don't need to be a saint or perfect to call on
Michael.  All you need is faith in him.

Below is the Catholic prayer to St. Michael.

Prayer to St. Michael
Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle;
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray:
and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan and all the evil spirits
who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
                                               Amen.
